| Recipe Name: | Southern BBQ Chicken |
| Recipe Information: | BBQ Chicken (cooked on pit) |
| Ingredients: |
|
| Recipe Instructions: | Sprinkle chicken halves with garlic salt. Lightly spread oil over each. Place on BBQ pit and cook very slow.
Normally takes 8 hours.
Meanwhile make sauce from all other ingredients.
Put all sauce ingredients in a boiler and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and cook over medium heat for 30 minutes.
Then reduce heat to low and leave cooking the entire time before applying it to chicken halves.
Also, put some of the lemon rinds in the sauce as it cooks. Gives it extra flavor.
Let chicken cook 2-3 hours and then start basting with the cooked sauce. Continue basting chicken the entire 3-5 remaining hours that it is cooking.
Delicious!! I cook it every 4th of July at our family log cabin where all of our family meets to enjoy the day and spend the night.
